Competition Rules

1.    The League shall consist of 24 clubs, with 6 sections of 4 clubs, to play each other home   and away between Last Sunday in April and the Second Sunday in July. The winners of each section plus the 2 best runners up shall qualify to play in Quarter Finals, to be played on neutral venues.

All winners are asked to make if possible their home course available for one of the ties, i.e. 1/4 final, semis or final.

The league would be obliged if when a course is being asked to host a playoff tie that the club cater for the 2 teams playing that course, catering will be reciprocated for their respective team wherever they play.

The dates to be confirmed by either Secretary or Treasurer.

The draw shall be seeded with the section winners with the most points being number 1 and so on to number 6, number 7 will be best runner up with 8 being second best runner up. the draw shall be as follows  .

7 Versus 2

Sections will change annually and fixtures notified to clubs at the Annual General Meeting.

2.    Teams shall consist of 10 Players, handicap 9 to 20 inclusive, playing five 4 ball games under normal match play rules.  3/4 the difference being the normal handicap allowance .

 Clubs are asked to try at all times to have 2 reserves also playing as their result shall count in playoff stages of competition should the match finish all square. If all square even after reserves then each Convener shall nominate any 2 players to play sudden death.

3.    Points will be awarded as follows, home win 2 points, home draw 1 point, away win 3 points, away draw 2 points.

4.    Clubs will be asked to provide the name,  address and telephone number of their team manager by the end of March. Team managers will be responsible for advising all home results and/or changes of dates of ties to Secretary or Treasure as soon as possible.

5.    In the event of a match being abandoned, it is hoped that a replay can be arranged otherwise if not then completed games are as such that there is a winner then that will be the result, incomplete games shall be declared all square for count back purposes

6       In the event of a team failing to complete any fixture the opposing team shall be awarded a 5 – 0 victory and the equivalent necessary points. The team that fails to complete their fixture shall also lose 2 points per fixture the following season

7a. Count back within a section : If teams are tied on points, the count back will initially be on the result between the teams. If the result is still a tie it will then be on overall games won, if still tied then on away games won only. If still tied then a single 4 ball match at a neutral venue.

7b. Count back between sections for Quarter Final place : Count back will initially be on overall games won, if tied then on total away games won, if still tied then a 4 ball match at a neutral venue.

8. Order of Play

a. Reserves : If Convenors cannot agree on playing order the Member Clubs have agreed that reserves during Section games may be played first and during all Knockout Stages must be played last.

b. League Section Games : The Away team has honour on the first tee.

c. Knockout Stages : In accordance with the rules of golf the team at the top of the draw will have the honour on the first tee.

9. Any changes to the above shall be proposed and seconded at the Annual General Meeting and carried by a majority vote.
