This year's Dinner was held in Cawder clubhouse on Friday 4th November. I would like to thank the Captain Tom Mills for his hospitality and thank the Committee and members for the use of their clubhouse. The bar staff and catering staff who mixed and matched are all due a great vote of thanks for their hard work and for presenting and serving an excellent meal. Also their secretary Mr Fraser Gemmell who worked away in the background to make sure that all went smoothly. THANKS TO ALL at Cawder.
The speakers on the evening were a Mr Gordon Smith who treated us to a highly entertaining repertoire of his working life. Our second speaker Mr Alan Tait was also highly entertaining with his witty stories regarding the highs and lows of his career both as an Amateur golfer and his venture on the European Tour, he had us all laughing our socks off. Thanks to both guys for an excellent evening.
A huge vote of thanks to President Bill McCoo for his opening speech, again Bill sourced a high number of prizes and auction items for the evening all at no cost to the League, a great vote of thanks must go to Bill for his hard work over the past 2 years. Thanks Bill.
Vice President Alan Bankier also did his bit organising raffle prizes earlier in the season at the Forrest Trophy.
As number were limited I would like to thank the Conveners who got in early with their money and also apologise to those who we had to disappoint. (Something perhaps to talk about at the A.G.M)
May I at this stage personally thank all the Convenors and players who continue to support this our ONLY social function of the year.
Gents as I said on the evening I personally think that we have the PREMIER golf league in West Central Scotland and we should be shouting about it from the rooftops and another season and Dinner on I still feel the same, I spoke with Alan Tait on the evening and as he works mainly on the eastside of the country I am going to feel him out regarding trying to find a League on that side of the country where we might get a challenge match going us represented by our current League winners, more hopefully at A.G.M.
